KODANI COMMUNITY

Kodani is an interior village in the Diocese of Karwar- Karnataka state, India. At the invitation of the Parish Priest Rev.Fr.Nevil Dsouza, Sr.Corrada Magnani, the Delegate Superior visited the place and felt the dire need of the people. With the permission from Rev.William D’Mello, the Bishop of Karwar, our superiors decided to open this mission house.
As our venerable founder wants us to open houses in the villages, our pioneers took up the challenge. The language, culture and transport were the challenges for them. On 17th April 1989, Rev.Sr. Angela Pannikattu and Rev.Sr.Elsy Maripurathu arrived this place accompanied by Rev. Sr. Corrada then Delegate superior. Upon seeing the need superiors decided to start a Dispensary, and Rev Sr.Merlyn joined the community to take up the dispensary work. Later we started the Nursery school in order to cater for the need of the children. Slowly the Nursery school raised to level Higher Secondary (nursery to X th class). There are about 300 children studying in our school. The sisters are actively involved in all the Pastoral activities likes teaching Catechism, accompanying youth, visiting families, caring for the sick etc.
